ETUI conference "20 years after: Perspectives on industrial relations since the 2004 EU enlargement"
Nov. 7, 2024
Does the Europeanisation of industrial relations still make sense? What lessons can be drawn from the experience of countries in Central and Eastern Europe that joined EU since 2004, and how can these experiences inspire the current candidate countries?
These questions were critically discussed on November 7 in Brussels at the ETUI conference "20 years after: Perspectives on industrial relations in Central and Eastern Europe since the 2004 EU enlargement".
Among the key takeaways from the conference is the need to revisit the concept of capacity building, the feasibility of transferring institutions across countries, and future expectations towards social dialogue at the EU-level, in the EU Member States as well as in the candidate countries.
Marta Kahancová and Tibor Meszmann contributed to the debates with presenting original research work that has been published in a dedicated open-access issue of Transfer - the European Review of Labour and Research: https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/trsa/30/1
